Summertime. Ah, we waited so long! Especially after the long, cold winter. Funny how we forget how hot the summer is when we are buried under snow and freezing.
Then it hits and it is hot, hot and hot! Where we live…it is also very humid. You go at at 8 in the morning and you are already hot and sticky and it is hard to breathe. This can make for long, miserable days.
Summer can wreak havoc on female freshness. Southern ladies are known to perspire, not sweat. Well, this southern farm girl sweats during the crazy heat of the summer!
How can you stay fresh {and cool} this summer?
- Drink plenty of water
It is so important to stay hydrated. Always have water with you, but please be careful about leaving plastic bottles in hot cars. I like to keep a cooler of water bottles. Add in electrolytes to replenish what is lost. Essential oils add flavor. Lemonade is a great too this time of year.
- Shower regularly
This will help cool you off, keep the sweat and grime cleaned off. Toward the end of your shower, turn the water cooler to refresh you and lower your body temperature. And on the really hot sticky days, two showers might be in order.
- Wear lighter weight clothing or loose dresses
It is important to wear lighter weight and lighter colored clothing on hot summer days. Summer dresses are cooler than pants. I love summer, flowing dresses! But out on the farm, that won’t do, so jeans are more the correct wardrobe {hence the sweating and not just perspiring}.
- Choose snacks to help refresh you
Foods like watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries and oranges help replace the lost water and vitamins. By choosing foods like these instead of one high in sodium, your body will respond better.
- Staying fresh down there
Well, this isn’t a topic we generally discuss, but when you are talking about summer freshness, you have to. Talking about keeping bums fresh can be rather awkward, but it shouldn’t be. NOT staying fresh is way more awkward.
One of my favorite ways to stay fresh is with Cottonelle’s Fresh Care flushable cleansing cloths. They have a great dry + wet system: Clean Care Toilet Paper and Flushable Cleansing Cloths. This pair works great together!! One place we don’t skimp or cut in the budget in our bathroom routine. In fact, we always take our cleansing cloths with us when we travel. And if we forget them…we go buy some and keep them in the bathroom. These are a necessary part of our bathroom routine.
When you don’t have time to shower or get fresh again, the flushable clean cloths are a great answer. Being sticky and sweaty is no fun, so these are great to help you stay fresh! Especially in the heat of the summer. And as women, that certain time of the month leaves you feeling messy and icky… Cleansing Cloths to the rescue!! This helps give you a confident clean that lasts throughout the day.
I bought my most recent combo system at my local CVS and they are giving YOU a coupon for $1.50 off {limited time}!! So, if you want to give this great combo a try and add it to your bathroom routine to keep you fresh, download this coupon and head to CVS! You will enjoy being “fresher” this summer!
The Cleansing Cloths are:
- Flushable
- Break up after flushing
- Sewer- and septic-safe
- Alcohol-free
- OneTouch* dispensing tub
- Great for the entire family
How do you stay fresh and clean during the summer?
Great info…it’s awfully humid in our area! I do want to comment that we have recieved a letter from our public utility about “flushable wipes”…they should be tossed in the trash, not flushed down the toilet. They can clog our septic pipes and thus cause an increase in costs to our service.
Very true!! Everyone should check with their utility, but we have actually just started putting them in the trash too. Thanks for the reminder!
