I love to use essential oils to keep us healthy. I also love to use them in cleaning supplies. Cleaning supplies are filled with toxins that can damage our health and fill our house with toxins in the air. It is especially important as children grow to keep them from being exposed to chemicals.
That is why we enjoy using essentials in our cleaning supplies. I enjoy making them with my sons and feel better that they are using these cleaning supplies. Plus, the house smells great!
Cleaning Recipes:
Put these in spray bottles with water. Always shake well before using.
*Glass spray bottles are best when using therapeutic grade essential oils, if you can find them. I often use spray bottles from the travel section, especially for traveling*
Basic Household Cleaner:
Fill a spray bottle with water and a squirt of dishwashing soap. Add 3–5 drops each of lavender, lemon, and pine essential oils.
Other oils that are excellent for cleaning include: cinnamon, clove, Eucalyptus globulus, thyme, juniper, Melaleuca alternifolia, spruce, lemongrass, and grapefruit. Add 4 to 8 drops of any of these to your mixture.
Easy Room Freshener:
In a spray bottle mix: Distilled Water 5-10 drops Purification essential oil (depending on how strong you want the smell)
*Glass spray bottles are best, if you can find them. I often use spray bottles from the travel section, especially for traveling*
Purification is a blend of citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca lavandin, and myrtle.
Room Deodorizer & Immune Booster:
In a spray bottle mix:
4 drops rosemary
4 drops grapefruit
4 drops lemon
2 drops eucalyptus {especially during flu season}
Distilled Water
Window Cleaner:
Mix in 1 quart spray bottle:
1 cup White Vinegar
10-15 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
water
Kitchen and Bathroom Cleaner:
In 1 quart of water add:
2 drops rosemary
4 drops lemon
3 drops eucalyptus
4 drops lavender
Floor cleaner:
Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to a bucket of water. Add 5–10 drops lemon, pine, spruce, melaleuca, or Purification
Dryer Sheets:
Commercially sold dryer sheets can be irritating and toxic to the skin. Instead, I toss in a damp washcloth with 10 – 15 drops of lemon oil. You can also use lavender, melaleuca, or other oils. This does not help with static cling, but your clothes will smell great! It is easy to add the oils to a washcloth or sock as you are transferring them from the washer to the dryer.
