I am excited to have Amy Bayliss, author of Pursuit of Proverbs 31, guest posting today…
It’s no secret that God has created us each unique. The problem is we often fail to recognize this truth and embrace. We sometimes see what other people have or where they are and want that. We work and struggle to achieve what was meant for someone else and wonder why we feel like we are getting nowhere. We need to recognize the gift that God has given us and pursue that.
In an attempt to earn gratitude, attention and worth, I became an overachiever. I earned straight As. I cleaned my room. I took care of my siblings. I took on my mother’s problems. I helped my sister pay for her wedding. I took in my brother when he was 14. I worked 40+ hour weeks on top of being a mother. I tried to do it all. By the time I was in my mid twenties I was burned out and bitter. I had resentment toward those who didn’t approve of me. It became so bad that I was angry at myself for not achieving certain things. But God revealed something to me one day: I was in bondage.
Approval had become a false god in my life. I did everything I could to try and accomplish my ever-growing to-do list, but the more I tried, the more I failed. And the more I failed, the guiltier I felt. Then what? The guiltier I felt, the harder I tried and it became this vicious cycle that left me frazzled.
It is vital we embrace who God created us to be because it is only then will we really thrive and His glory will be revealed through us.
If you’ve ever wanted to tear the 31st chapter of Proverbs out of your Bible, this book is for you.
She is a wife, mom, business owner, seamstress, she serves the needy, speaks life and wisdom and seems to be quite the major overachiever, perfectionist type.
Except that...she’s not.

Come along and journey with Amy and take a look at the real woman of Proverbs 31. She isn’t as perfect as she seems. In fact, I think she is a lot like you and me.
